EWIB
The Eastern Connecticut Workforce Investment Board
The Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) is a non-profit agency mandated through the federal Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA). EWIB oversees workforce funding & policy development in the 41 towns located in its service delivery area in Eastern Connecticut.
EWIB efficiently coordinates employment-related services in concert with a multitude of state and local agencies at benefit to both businesses and jobseekers. These services offer new opportunities and/or skills to the regional workforce, including those entering the workforce for the first time, the unemployed, the under-employed, those transitioning into new occupations, or those adding skills to remain competitive within their company or industry. EWIB also collaborates with regional business leaders to ensure these programs meet their needs in both good and bad economic times.
In partnership with the CT Department of Labor, EWIB oversees the operations of the three (3) regional American Job Center-East One-Stop Career Centers located in Danielson, Montville, and Willimantic.
EWIB manages the national award-winning Eastern CT Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative (MPI) and the Eastern CT Healthcare Pipeline Initiative (HPI), both of which align jobseeker skills with the hiring needs of regional employers.
EWIB also coordinates youth workforce pipeline initiatives in both manufacturing and healthcare, and convenes industry-driven manufacturing and healthcare regional sector partnerships.
